Gulammohammed Sheikh, painter, art historian and writer, has taught art history and painting for nearly three decades at the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University, Baroda. His paintings have been widely shown in India and abroad, including at a solo exhibition at Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, in 1985. He has also lectured extensively on Indian art in India , the UK, USA and other countries. His publications include Laxma Goud (Hyderabad, 1981), Paroksa (Coomaraswamy Centenary Seminar papers, co-edited with Kapila Vatsyayan and K.G. Subramanyan, New Delhi, 1984), and contributions to journal such as Marg, Journal of Arts and Ideas and Lalit Kala Contemporary.
